AutoFill Automatic Container Irrigation System
1.0 GENERAL
1.1 WORK INCLUDED
A. Provision and installation of AutoFill reservoir units.

1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Manufacturer's standard catalog cut sheets and planting
instructions.
B. Samples: As required for custom applications only.
C. Shop Drawings: For custom applications, showing critical sizes and
dimensions for installation and integration with other work.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Inspect packages upon delivery for signs of damage during transit.
B. Protect AutoFill systems from damage during storage and handling.
C. Store systems indoors, in their original packaging. Do not stand or
walk on packages.
1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Pots or planters to be level, or shimmed to level condition.
B. Contractor to provide adequate structural support for AutoFill systems.
C. Protect units from damage by adjacent work.
1.6 MAINTENANCE
A. Prior to project completion, provide manufacturer's planting and maintenance
instructions to installing contractor to insure correct planting and maintenance
of the planters.
B. Master water lines should be kept at a maximum pressure of 20 psi.
C. Planted areas should be examined periodically to ensure correct operation.
2.0 PRODUCTS
2.1 ACCEPTABLE PRODUCTS/MANUFACTURERS

2.2 AUTOMATIC CONTAINER IRRIGATION RESERVOIR SYSTEMS
A. Type: Self-contained modules with removable float valve plate. System
to have replacable AutoFill float valve in each reservoir body to allow
water level travel within reservoir. Each reservoir to have ¼"
water inlet barb on float valve plate. Unit to have multiple levels of
water inlet holes to provide for sufficient dry-down as the reservoir
water level recedes.
B. Material: lightweight linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) body
with thermoplastic float valve plate.
C. Color: Standard black.
D. Finish: Smooth matte finish.
E. Sizes: Modules range in sizes from 9" dia. up to 45"dia.
Rectangular units also available in lengths up to 66"long. Sizes
as required to fill specified areas, consult with manufacturer for details.
2.3 AUTOFILL AUTOMATIC CONTAINER IRRIGATION SYSTEM ACCESSORIES (OPTIONAL)
A. Pressure Regulator. To bring down line pressure to 20psi. Available
in ¾" size, preset for correct use. Recommended that regulator
be mounted behind filter in system.
B. Hanging Basket Reservoir. To use AutoFill system in hanging baskets
where water line is not available. Small reservoir (1.5 quarts) and large
reservoir (3 quarts) may be planted into basket, and water line attached
to AutoFill unit (typically AF-900).
C. Hanging Baskets. Consult Planter Technology catalog for details regarding
10" and 20" hanging baskets.
D. Changeable parts: Replacement Float Valve Plate, vent tubing, water
lines.
3.0 EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
A. Prior to ordering AutoFill systems. the contractor shall verify as-built
dimensions of pots and planter areas to ensure proper size, fit and quantity
required.
B. Planters must be installed level, or shimmed to be level for the AutoFill
system to function correctly.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install units level to insure proper function.
B. Space units evenly in installations requiring multiple reservoirs.
C. Ensure water line tubing is firmly connected to top of Float Valve
plate.
D. Trim the vent tube on site so that it doesn't extend far beyond the
soil (1"-2").
