Changing Parts

Parts & Accessories Product Information:

The Controlled Watering System requires periodic replacement of some of its components in order to continue doing its job. Proper care and replacement approx. every 4-5 years of the parts will increase the system's longevity.

There are a few simple ways to get the maximum life out of the components:

  • Avoid getting debris in the reservoir
  • Avoid allowing the reservoir to go empty
  • Always use HM-10 Time-Release fertilizer for sub-irrigation systems or water soluble fertilizer.

To order replacement parts, email Planter Technology. The components and how they are replaced are shown below:

  1. Stopper

ALWAYS replace the stopper with a firm twist, ensuring an air tight seal - for best results, moisten before inserting

  2. Grommet

Use thumb and forefinger to remove grommet from sidewall. To replace, simply push small side of one-sided grommet into wall fully. For SeaCrest Series planters, thread the brass fitting out of the insert in the wall of the SeaCrest Series planter. Wrap new sensor fitting with teflon tape, and hand thread into insert, being carefull not to turn too far.

  3. Sensor Tube

Remove the sensor tube with a twist. When replacing, moisten the end of the sensor tube that goes into the grommet with liquid soap, saliva, or water and twist in.

  4. Retainer Ring (Natural Spring, CWS Planter Liners, and SeaCrest Series planters only)

Use a key, screwdriver, or similar tool to remove the retainer ring. To replace, place the retainer ring on top of the inlet disc and press down firmly, using the same tool.

  5. Inlet Disc (Natural Spring, CWS Planter Liners, and SeaCrest Series planters only)

Use a key, screwdriver, or similar tool to pop out white inlet disc (It pops out like a tiddlywink). To replace, place inlet disc (either side down) flat over the hole in bottom of planter.
