Our Story

Planter Technology has a twenty year history of making pots and planters easier and less expensive to maintain. We started in 1979, creating the first commercially practical self-watering planter for indoor plants. Allen Secrest, the original founder of the company, started out selling the Natural Spring self-watering planter to the interior plant maintenance business. Over time, he expanded the product offering to include large-scale planters with built-in irrigation, planter liners for the construction marketplace, and unique plant care products.

In 1994 a new group, led by Christopher Lyon, took over the company to push it to the next level. We’ve expanded the original container irrigation concept, and made it so that any pot or planter in any location can have an irrigation system without requiring plumbing. We are committed to providing a full line of container irrigation products and planter liners to make pots and planters easier and less expensive to maintain in any container in any location.

NEW! CWM Modular Container Irrigation System

We are located in Hayward, CA, with another manufacturing location in Newark, CA. Both cities are located on the San Francisco bay, just south of Oakland. All of our products (unless otherwise noted) are designed and manufactured by Planter Technology in the U.S.A. We work with landscape architects, architects, and designers in solving their planter problems on commercial and high-end residential projects. We sell our container irrigation products through wholesale distributors and marketing partners. We sell our planters, planter liners and miscellaneous products either directly or through distribution channels. Our sister company, Natural Spring (http://www.nsplants.com), sells our products to consumers looking for the same maintenance advantages available to the professional.

Your Privacy

We value your privacy as much as you do yourself. We will not sell, trade or rent our mailing list, telephone numbers, or e-mail addresses. Period.

Our Guarantee

We want you to be completely satisfied with your entire experience with Planter Technology, both the actual product and the service we provide. We offer a standard three-year warranty on all our products, the details of which are listed below. If in the unlikely event you are not satisfied with your Planter Technology purchase for any reason, please let us know.

We warrant to the initial purchaser of our products that we will repair or replace product that contains a defect in material or workmanship for a period of three years from the date it is delivered to the initial purchaser.

This limited warranty does not include those parts which fall under standard regular maintenance of the irrigation system. The warranty does not apply to conditions resulting from misuse, abuse, failure to follow directions for use, unauthorized modifications, neglect, accident or other hazard or the like. The remedy under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at Planter Technology's option, of the defective parts of the warranted product. Repair or replacement of a part does not extend the warranty beyond the initial warranty period.

This is the only written warranty applicable to the product. The duration of the implied warranty on the product is limited to the three year duration of this express warranty. In no event shall Planter Technology be liable for any incidental or consequential damages, including but not limited to damage to any plants which may have been planted in the product. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which may vary from state to state.
